The next several days were amazing all in caps lock with exclamation points everywhere. I went to bed with Mick in my arms and woke up the same way. I found out that he was having issues with tenderness, and tried to make everything hot and kinky. But in the mornings he was too sleepy to think that hard and he would simply enjoy what I had to give him.

And when we were done, he’d smile at me, a real Mick smile I hadn’t seen in a long time. It gave me hope that there might be an us after the contract was up.

There were still times when I saw him standing in the doorway of the spare bedroom, gazing over all the boxed-up items I’d moved in there and looking lost. They only lasted about ten or fifteen minutes and he didn’t zone out completely anymore so I didn’t mention them. Everyone needed time here and there to let things in their lives settle inside of them.

I also couldn’t remember a time when I’d simply had so much fun with someone. We’d look online for stuff to redecorate his apartment and order what he wanted. It was the input that he let me have that made it so special though. He was treating it as if it was our apartment and not just his.

And the other night we played board games he’d snagged from Cal’s daughter that she was still too young to play. We gave them right back the next day so it wasn’t like we were stealing toys from a kid. It was more that he came up with the idea after work and where else would we have found board games at that time of night?

“Hey, babe,” Mick purred as he joined me at the door. I was on duty for half the night, mostly teaching the new wrath demons how to read people. Most still didn’t know how to tell another paranormal apart from a human.

“You look amazing, my sweet don,” I whispered in awe. He was dressed to bartend for when the club got extra busy during peak hours. Mick was wearing tight little shorts that showed the top of his ass, knee-high go-go boots… And nothing else.

“Not too much?” He eyed me warily and I wasn’t sure why he was doubting himself. I raised an eyebrow in question as I let the other demon take over checking IDs and stepped off to the side with Mick. “It’s just, I don’t want to upset you or have you think I’m trying to pick someone up tonight or something.”

“Have others given you shit when you were with them about dressing like this to attract attention and tips for the bartenders?” I knew why he did it. He was a lust demon and humans reacted to him. The bartenders made more in tips in the hour or so Mick would be helping them than the rest of the night. He did it because he wanted to help them.
